Isabel Dobrev (b. 2000) is a multifaceted bass player with sixteen years of experience. Originally from San Francisco, she began playing at age 10 and quickly fell in love with playing upright and electric bass in all genres of music. Her membership in the prestigious San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra solidified her passion and propelled her towards a musical career.
She graduated in 2022 from UCLA with a B.A. in Global Jazz Studies (though she did not stop playing orchestral bass).
With over 600 performances and recordings under her belt, she has established herself as a reputable bass player and a reliable call for everything from orchestral recordings, to rock shows, to operas, to original musicals. She is recognized by peers and conductors for her infectious sense of rhythm and musicality, musical interpretation, and dedication to music.
She appears on four full-length studio albums, two EPs, and many more recordings and music videos.
Isabel continues to play all genres as a freelance bassist, teaches private lessons to students of all ages, and is currently the principal bassist at the Orchestra of the Varna State Opera. She will be starting as a section bassist with the Helena Symphony in September 2026.
